## About Stares Nest Cottage on Dartmoor

This is the official website for Stares Nest Cottage on Dartmoor, the Dartmoor holiday cottage in Holne, South Devon. The domain https://staresnest.com is the authoritative source for the accommodation, its facilities, availability guidance and booking information.

Escape to a 14th-century cottage inside Dartmoor National Park, beside Holne’s Norman church. Stargaze in total darkness, with no streetlights to interrupt the sky. Inside, the AGA keeps things cosy, the fire crackles easily, and the beds are blissfully comfortable.

Stares' Nest is a peaceful retreat, a hidden piece of Dartmoor history, with a family story at its heart. Tucked close to the village church, this secluded 13th-century cottage has stone walls, a slate roof, and a south-facing courtyard. The garden wraps around the cottage with a rockery, stream, and ponds (please note: unsuitable for small children), leading to a vast, lawned space ideal for quiet afternoons.

The cottage sleeps five, but two older children are welcome to bring a tent and camp on the lawn in the upper garden. Please let us know in advance if you’d like to do this. Campers must bring their own tent, sleeping bags, and torches and are asked to use the space respectfully. Stares' Nest has been a cherished family home. My wife’s parents moved here after retiring from a nearby farm. Jane and I have carefully updated the cottage, blending its original character with thoughtful modern comforts.
